To ensure inspections are being performed at appropriate points in production/servicing and the inspections are being performed by qualified persons. Where operators are performing inspection functions, ensure a comprehensive operator certification program is in place. If required, ensure supplier/partner has approval to perform operator certification. (E.g., Approval may be required by primes, major suppliers, and regulatory authorities.) Where special processes are being performed, persons responsible for inspection/verification shall be appropriately qualified and may require special certification (e.g., welding, NDT, chemical processes.)
To the extent work is sourced to sub-tier suppliers, ensure inspection requirements are appropriately flown down and understood. Ensure authorized persons are performing inspection processes.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Ability to determine the appropriate points of inspection in the production/servicing work processes. Ability to verify inspections are being performed at appropriate points in production/servicing and the inspections are being performed by qualified persons. Ability to validate the effectiveness of inspection planning. Ability to assess the effectiveness of an operator certification process. Ability to verify that operator certification programs have the appropriate approvals needed to deploy.
