Process: Determine Support Resource Needs (IPT, SQA, Labs, etc.)
Process Purpose:
To understand the actual and total resource needs to support outsourcing to suppliers/partners. Based on supplier, design, and production maturity, resource needs may vary. Need to understand differences in regional and international influences on required support resources.
Supplier Emphasis:
Determine the re-sourcing requirements of suppliers/partners and establish the support resource requirements to ensure effective execution of work. Ensure suppliers have the resources to assure supplier management of their own supplier base. Ensure any unique approvals required for special process, or by procedure/policy are adequately supported by appropriate resources.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Ability to determine actual and total resource needs to support outsourcing to suppliers/partners. Ability to quantify variation in resource requirements based on supplier/partner production maturity. Ability to quantify variation in resource requirements based on differences in regional and international influences. Ability to assess the capability of suppliers/partners to ensure they have adequate resources to oversee their suppliers. Ability to assess supplier/partner's past performance to identify potential risk factors. Ability to document results of resource analysis in terms that can be used for effective program management.
